62-year-old Swiss national, Rudolf Eduard KNUCHEL, stood trial yesterday in Siem Reap Provincial Court. However, the hearing recessed and will continue on April 5, 2010.

 

KNUCHEL was charged with purchase of child prostitution from two boys living with him, following his arrest in Siem Reap on August 26, 2010, he has spent six months in pre-trial detention at Siem Reap Provincial prison.

 

KNUCHEL, a long-time resident of Siem Reap, was previously arrested in 2000 on accusations that he had abused two underage boys. However, he was eventually released by Siem Reap Provincial Court, stating lack of evidence.

 

If found guilty, KNUCHEL will face from 5 up to 10 years in jail, for abusing and paying for sex with underage boys.
